When considering prospective members, the Alpha Tau Chapter looks for well-rounded young women who are motivated to be successful and  are committed to service.  Our founder, Triumphant Soror Viola Tyler Goings once said, "There is a Zeta in every girl, regardless of race, creed or color who has high standards and principles and active interest in all things that she undertakes to accomplish".  We seek dynamic and driven women who are scholarly, have an excellent reputation, and possess talent and sophistication. We look for outstanding ladies who will uphold the personal and professional ideals upon which our sisterhood was founded. Just as importantly, we  for seek women with an eagerness for learning and willing to make positive contributions to the chapter and to the sorority as a whole.

In addition to these traits, there are academic requirements that must be met as well:  

• All young ladies interested in the membership of our beloved sorority must first meet Emory University's academic requirements. The general academic requirement is a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

• Interested women must have acquired at least 12 credits towards graduation. Interested women must be in overall good standing with Emory University.
